In Crafted in Conversation, ceramic artist Eline Mathe and illustrator and fashion designer Elysanne Schuurman explore the dialogue between clay, thread and couture technique.
Crafted in Conversation brings together the practices of ceramic artist Eline Mathe and illustrator and fashion designer Elysanne Schuurman in a dialogue rooted in fashion, material intelligence and process.
Clay meets textile like a memory held in the hand. Schuurman’s embroidered lines and illustrations extend into ceramic forms, while Mathe approaches clay as textile, folding, pleating and responding with her hand-painted dots.
Textiles are embedded in clay; ceramic beads and ruffles return to
fabric, appearing in both wearable pieces and spatial works. The works move between fashion and object: they can be worn, but also inhabit space.
What emerges is not a fusion, but an exchange, where our languages meet, shift and amplify one another.
